Acer Aspire One AOD250-1185 10.1-Inch Sapphire Blue Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Review
All the Netbooks have the same (weak) processor and slow video.
This is the only Netbook that can be upgraded easily, so you can play HD video and Flash.
Good:
Three access panels on the back - HD, Memory, Full Function PCIe slot.
Only Netbook that has easy access to an open PCIe slot.
Plugged in the BCM70012 HD () HD decoder, Flash 10.1, and HD video works perfectly.
Did not need to upgrade the system BIOS.
Hulu HD and Skype work perfectly.
Boot time (fast for XP) is a little over one min.
This is really a snappy Netbook. Very light - good pointer, etc
The sound is fantastic if you use earphones or an external amplifier.
The built in SD card reader is very fast and supports (4gig+) SDHC.
N280 runs at 1.66GHz while the N270 runs at 1.6GHz.
N280 front side bus speed of 667MHz compared with 533MHz on the N270.
The 6 cell battery lasts 6 to 8 hours . This was worth the extra money.
Bad:
The built in speakers are totally useless, because the sound output is so low.
I increased the volume a little by loading the latest sound drivers.
No software at all, other than the operating system.
The first thing I did was remove all the “free trail” software. Loaded Free Open Office Word, Excell, AVG, etc.
Windows Live receive audio is choppy. Ohter Netbooks have this same problme - search on the Internet.
I bypassed the audo problem by using (fantastic sound) Bluetooth earbuds.
Acer support is very, very bad. They only provide Emails support and only for very, very simple problems.
Acer charges dollars and hour for voice support.
