Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Hot Pink) Review

Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Hot Pink)
I did a lot of research and waited a long time before buying this Netbook; I totally love the gorgeous look and finish, the ports are hidden under covers. Reasons I selected this model: the New Intel Atom N450, 2GB of memory (vs. 1 GB factory installed for most Netbooks), Win7 Home Prem. (vs. Starter Ed for other Netbooks), Wireless N, Bluetooth (I use a BT Wireless mouse), 1.3 MP webcam… Etc. Overall it is a very well equipped, very light and portable Netbook.
The screen is sharp and easy to read even outside (not under direct sun light).
The keyboard is really comfortable and easy to use.
Absolutely love the Express Gate, it is a stand-alone operating system from ASUS that boots up in seconds and provides the essential appz such as File Explorer, internet browser, photo viewer… in seconds I am connected to the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot and good to go.
The Cons are:
1) The most important thing for the Netbook is the battery life; on this one… it sucks! Better explain in numbers, Watching a movie from the Hard Drive with Bluetooth and Wireless both OFF and battery set on power saver: ~3 Hrs, Streaming video online with Wireless ON & BT OFF and battery set on balanced: ~2.5 Hrs, normal internet surfing (No Stream) with Wireless ON & BT OFF and battery set on power saver: ~4 Hrs, Video chat with Wireless ON & BT ON and battery set on balanced: ~2 Hrs, playing light games (like Luxor 3) full screen with BT and Wireless both OFF and battery set on power saver: ~2 Hrs. I haven’t yet tried to run it on High Performance battery setting for a long time!! The battery never lasted for 4.5 Hrs or more no matter what I turn off and on which settings the battery is; the 6 Hrs battery life is inaccurately advertised!
2) Surprisingly it is not very responsive, I was expecting way better than that! I understand that it is designed for web surfing and light applications and this is exactly what I’m using it for, if I stream a video on YouTube and I have 3 more tabs open in IE for email, news, blogs… the video breaks up really bad! Close a couple of tabs and it works fine! I mean for a 1.66 GHz dual core CPU and 2 Gigs of RAM you think it can do better. Now the performance significantly improve when it’s connected to AC power and set the battery to high performance but the Netbook should be a portable device, if I have to stay plugged to AC power, I would rather prefer to use my 17″ laptop!
3) The 1024×600 resolution is not compatible with a lot of websites and applications, seriously… the manufactures has to get out of this box, 1280×720 is totally doable in this screen size!

Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Hot Pink) Review

Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Hot Pink)
I did a good deal of reading and research before purchasing this ASUS Eee. I was attracted by the 2 gigs of RAM that were included, allowing a full version of Windows 7 to run. It is light, easy to tote around, and full featured — right down to the webcam. The tracker pad is comfy and responsive. Display is not sharp and gorgeous like bigger computers, but it is more than adequate for my portable computing purposes. This is not a desktop replacement, but how great for business trips and vacation — can’t wait to use it for offloading photos while traveling using the built-in SD card slot!

ASUS 10.1″ Eee PC 160GB Netbook Computer with Windows XP Home - Midnight Blue (1005HA) Review

ASUS 10.1" Eee PC 160GB Netbook Computer with Windows XP Home - Midnight Blue (1005HA)
I got this netbook back in july, wanted to give it some time before writing a review on the item. So, here goes…
After opening the box and charging the 1005hab for the specified time in the manual,I was finally ready to fire it up. 1st, the case is a magnet for fingerprints, but overall fit and finish seems nice. Startup and seting up the netbook for first use was very easy, no more than 20 minutes and I was already connected to my network in my home. Wireless is great, built in n speeds was nice for a 0 netbook, My router is in my basement and I can get 75% strength on the 1st floor at the other end of the house, 2nd floor has ok signal so overall very good. The touch pad for me is not the greatest, just trying to move the pointer around with it sometimes goes into a scrolling effect rather than the mouse moving, and the left anf right buttons don’t always seem to register every click. Got a bluetooth mouse and solved those issues. Keyboard took a little getting used to due to the size, also the size of the screen makes viewing some documents and web pages tough, I have to be wearing my glasses to see the screen clearly, i use a 22″ monitor on my home computer so i can get away with no glasses with that, not the netbook though. But then if I wanted something that was big and easy to read, i would have bought a full size laptop. Hard drive storage is good at 140ish GB free out of the box. Lets talk battery… where did they get 4+ hours of life from this thing? I haven’t timed it out to see for sure but it’s more like 2-3 hours depending on what your doing with it. it may stretch out to 3.5 before shutting down from low power but i just charge it before that anyway. Students couldn’t get through a school day on a single charge. The processor power is good for what it is. I use it for mostly internet and I design and maintain a few websites with macromedia software, so its great to bring with me when going to meet up with people to talk sites. Fits inside my motorcycle side case with ease. I also bought a 2GB memory chip but saw very little diffence with it. If your running that many memory hogging programs that you really need to upgrade the netbook, you probably should have bought a fullsize laptop with a faster processor. changing the chip was very easy though, 1 screw and a little cover on the bottom comes right off.
Overall if you want a compact, easy to use computer to take with you for email, word documents and some picture editing software, or just to browse the internet, I’d say this is for you, if your going to be editing video or mutlitasking larger programs, you might want to think laptop

Asus Eee PC 1005HA-PU17-BK 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Crystal Black) Review

Asus Eee PC 1005HA-PU17-BK 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Crystal Black)
This is a really well built netbook and has really changed my view about ASUS. I really use it a lot for my school and also hook it up to a 25 inch 1080p monitor and it works fine. Only weakness it has is the os “Windows Starter Edition” and the integrated video chip. I am able to only view standard definition videos. It has pretty good resolution support for external monitor, but can’t play high quality videos really well. That is to be expected because this model does not have the Nvidia ION graphics chip.

One thing about buying your first notebook, laptop or desktop replacement is that you never go through the experience again. By the way, there is a difference between a notebook and a laptop? It may be used, but from what I saw on the market have, these two terms were thrown around in a meaningless soup. Do not give a second thought - if you're buying one for the first time, you have to take care of things better. I call them notebooks.

Asus Eee PC 1005HA-MU17-WT 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Pearl White) Review

Asus Eee PC 1005HA-MU17-WT 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Pearl White)
I had a Dell fullscale (14.1″ screen or however big it was) PC and it was starting to shut down over and over for no reason. The bottom would get VERY warm and I just thought it was because it was sitting on my lap and not venting properly to cool the system. I took it in for tech support and they told me the same thing but it never seemed to do it. I finally got tired of it and looked into a few options. I’m not a gamer and just really need it for internet, some mild word processing, and email but didn’t want to pay a fortune. I opted to take a chance on a netbook (with my dying laptop as a back-up just in case it didn’t work out) and after a lot of research Asus won out.

Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Rose Pink) Review

Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Rose Pink)
This small light netbook exceeds my expectations. I did not imagine it would have such a user friendly keyboard; I use it for word processing of short items such as this review. This product is so easy to lift, manipulate and carry. Battery life seems to be as advertised. I thought pink would be distracting; it isn’t. This has quickly become my favorite computer. It’s my first ASUS, and it has sold me on the company. As always, kudos to Amazon for sensible packaging and speed of delivery.
